How we manage Google Ads

Six habits that separate an account that produces leads from one that produces invoices. None of them are complicated. Most accounts we see are missing at least three.

Search campaigns on high-intent keywords

We start where the buyer is already looking: searches that name the service and the city, or say they need it now. Tightly themed ad groups, ad copy written for that searcher, and location targeting set to the area you actually serve. Broad awareness campaigns come later, if ever.

Negative keyword lists from day one

Most wasted spend in a small account comes from searches that were never going to buy: job seekers, do-it-yourselfers, people looking for free versions, people in the wrong city. We build the negative list before launch and keep adding to it from the search terms report every week.

A landing page per offer

Sending paid clicks to your homepage makes the visitor do the work. Each offer gets its own page that matches the ad, states the price or next step plainly, and puts the phone number and form where a mobile visitor can reach them. We build the pages ourselves, so this is not a separate vendor.

Conversion tracking verified end to end

Calls from ads, calls from the site, form submissions, and enhanced conversions, each one tested with a real submission before a dollar is spent. If the account cannot tell a lead from a page view, bidding is guessing. We confirm every conversion action reports what it says it does.

Honest reporting tied to leads

Clicks and impressions are inputs. The report leads with what you are paying for: calls, forms, and booked jobs, and what each one cost. When a campaign is not producing leads we say so in plain language and say what we are changing.

Knowing when to pause

Sometimes the right move is to stop spending. If the tracking is sound and the clicks are arriving but nobody is calling, the problem is usually the offer or the page, not the bids. We pause, fix the cause, and relaunch instead of buying more of the same clicks.

What We Learned

Tracking does not make ads work. It tells you whether they do.

We run Google Ads for our own business too, and the most useful thing we learned there applies to every account we manage.

When we ran our own campaign, the tracking worked and the clicks came in. The leads did not. The keywords were right and the ads were showing to the right people, but the offer on the other side of the click was the wrong one for that searcher.

Because every call and form was tracked, there was no guessing about where the problem was. We changed the offer and the landing page instead of raising the budget or rewriting ads for the tenth time.

That is how we run client accounts. Tracking comes first, so when something is not working you find out quickly, and the fix goes where the problem actually is: the offer, the page, or the campaign.

Who This Is For

Local businesses that need the phone to ring

Google Ads management makes the most sense for service businesses whose buyers search with intent: towing, contractors, home services, law firms, practices, and other local businesses across Southern California.

You are paying for clicks and cannot say how many turned into calls or forms
Your ads send everyone to the homepage
The search terms report is full of searches that have nothing to do with your business
You set up Google Ads yourself, or a previous agency did, and nobody has looked at it in months
Your monthly report shows clicks and impressions but never leads
You want ads and a website from the same team, so the page and the campaign are built together

Not the right fit: businesses with no budget to sustain a campaign through its learning period, or an offer that has not been tested with real customers yet. We will say so on the first call, and SEO or a better website may be the smarter first spend.

Website and Google Ads From One Team

When the same team builds the page and runs the campaign, the ad and the page say the same thing.

“LinkTech Solutions built our website and is currently managing our Google Ads and other advertising campaigns. We've already started seeing great results, and our website is gaining more visibility in the areas around us. Highly recommend working with them.”

How It Works

From first call to a campaign you can measure

Tracking and landing pages go in before the budget does. That order is the whole point.

Step 1

Review the account and the offer

We look at the existing account if you have one, the pages the ads land on, the tracking, and the offer itself. You get a plain answer on what is working, what is wasting money, and whether ads are the right channel for you right now.

Step 2

Build tracking, pages, and campaigns

Conversion tracking first, tested with real calls and form fills. Then the landing page for each offer, then tightly themed search campaigns with the negative keyword list in place before launch.

Step 3

Manage, report, and adjust

Search term reviews and new negatives, bid and budget adjustments, ad copy tests, and a monthly written report on leads and cost per lead. If the offer is not converting, we change the offer or the page before we raise the budget.

FAQ

Common questions about Google Ads management

How much should a small business spend on Google Ads?

Enough to get a meaningful number of clicks on your best keywords every month, and no more until the tracking shows those clicks turn into leads. The right budget depends on what a click costs in your industry and city, and on how much a new customer is worth to you. We work that out from the account and the keyword costs on the first call, start with a budget you can sustain, and only recommend increasing it once leads are being tracked and the cost per lead makes sense.

How much does Google Ads management cost?

Management is quoted as a fixed monthly fee after we review your account, your offer, and how many campaigns you need. It is not a percentage of your ad spend, so we have no reason to push your budget up. Your ad spend is paid to Google directly, separate from our fee. You get the number in writing before anything starts.

How long until Google Ads produces leads?

Search ads can produce calls within the first days of launch, because they show to people searching right now. The first few weeks are still a learning period: the search terms report fills in, negative keywords get added, and bidding settles once conversions are recorded. Most accounts need several weeks of tracked conversions before you can judge cost per lead fairly. If you are getting clicks and no leads after that, the offer or the landing page is the problem, and we fix that rather than wait.

Do I need a landing page for Google Ads?

For most local businesses, yes. A landing page that matches the ad, speaks to one offer, and puts the phone number and form in reach on mobile converts better than a homepage that has to serve everyone. It also makes tracking cleaner, because every visit to that page came from a known campaign. Because we build websites, we build the landing pages ourselves.

Who owns the Google Ads account?

You do. The account is set up in your business's name and billed to your payment method, and we are given manager access to run it. If you stop working with us, the account, the campaigns, the conversion history, and the landing pages we built stay with you.

Why am I getting clicks but no calls?

Either the tracking is not recording the calls, or the offer is not convincing the people clicking. We check tracking first, with a real test call and a real form submission, because it is the cheaper problem to rule out. We learned this on our own ads: the tracking worked and clicks came in, but the offer was wrong and produced no leads until we changed the offer and the landing page. Working tracking is what proved the offer was the problem.

What is the difference between a PPC agency and Google Ads management?

PPC, or pay per click, covers any ad platform where you pay for each click, including Google, Microsoft, and social platforms. Google Ads management is the Google-specific part, and for a local service business it is usually where the high-intent buyers are. We focus on Google search campaigns first because that is where people ask for the service by name.

Should I run Google Ads or invest in SEO?

They do different jobs. Google Ads buys visibility now and stops when the budget stops. SEO builds visibility that keeps working but takes months. Many of our clients run ads while their SEO matures, and the conversion tracking we set up for ads tells you which keywords are worth ranking for. We run both, so we can tell you honestly which one your budget should go to first.

Ads buy visibility now. SEO builds the kind you do not pay for per click. See our SEO services →
