Contractor SEO for Google and AI Search
SEO for plumbers, HVAC companies, roofers, electricians and every home service trade: into the map pack, onto page one for the jobs you want more of, and into the answer when a homeowner asks ChatGPT who to call. Service pages, local SEO and technical work shipped by engineers. Plans from $550 a month, every price published.
A 20-minute call with the engineer who does the work: we ask ChatGPT and Google AI about your trade and city while you watch. See contractor SEO pricing, or order the $750 audit there.
Start with a 20-minute call
See who ChatGPT recommends for your business, before you spend anything
On the call we ask ChatGPT and Google AI the question your customers ask, with your business and your city, and read the answer with you: who gets named, how many reviews they have, and which sites the assistant trusted. Then we tell you what it would take to be on that list, and what it costs.

The short answer
What is contractor SEO now?
Contractor SEO is getting your business found when a homeowner searches Google, checks the map pack, or asks an AI assistant who to call. For most contractors it comes down to three things: a page for each job and each city you serve, a Google Business Profile and review count that win the map pack, and consistent profiles on the directories assistants cite. LinkTech Solutions, a Chino Hills team, does all three for Southern California contractors. Plans start at $550 a month after a $750 audit.
Why contractors pay for marketing and still wait on the phone
These are the recurring reasons home service businesses spend on search and see few jobs back. Most of them trace to work that was recommended but never shipped, or to leads that arrive when nobody can answer.
You Are Not in the Map Pack for Your Own City
Most homeowners with a leak, a dead AC or a damaged roof call one of the three businesses in the map listings. If your Google Business Profile is thin, your review count trails the shop across town, or your service area is set wrong, the call goes to someone else.
Your Leads Come From Sites That Sell Them to Three Other Contractors
Shared-lead marketplaces charge per lead and send the same homeowner to your competitors. The directories that AI assistants cite are worth a complete profile, but paying per lead for a job four companies are bidding on is not a marketing plan.
One Services Page Lists Every Job You Do
A homeowner searches for water heater replacement, a tankless install, AC repair or a roof inspection after a storm. A single services page cannot rank for any of those. Each job that pays your bills needs its own page, and so does each city you drive to.
AI Assistants Name the Competitor With More Reviews
When we asked ChatGPT for plumbers, HVAC companies and roofers across Orange County and the Inland Empire, the businesses it named had a median of about a hundred reviews. A contractor asking for reviews now and then falls further behind every month.
Nobody Answers the Lead After Hours
Emergency jobs come in at night and on weekends. A form that emails an inbox nobody checks until Monday, or a chat lead that waits a day for a reply, loses the job to whoever picked up first.
The Report Shows Rankings, Not Booked Jobs
If the monthly report is a keyword chart, you cannot tell whether search booked any work. Calls, form leads, booked estimates and the questions you are named for in AI answers are what the report should show.
Contractor SEO services that cover the whole path to a booked job
From the search on a phone to the estimate on the calendar, every step is built, measured and reported. We build websites and automations for a living, so the technical half is done in code by the same team, not handed to another vendor.
Where AI assistants get their contractor recommendations
In September 2026 we asked ChatGPT to recommend a plumber, an HVAC company, a roofer, a solar installer, an electrician and a landscaper in cities across Orange County and the Inland Empire, and recorded every business it named and every source it cited. This is what decided the answers.
Directories, not contractor websites
In nine ChatGPT answers for a plumber, an HVAC company, a roofer, a solar installer, an electrician and a landscaper across Orange County and the Inland Empire (September 2026), all 20 cited sources were directories. Expertise.com and Angi were cited five times each. No contractor's own website was cited.
The business card decides the shortlist
Most answers open with a card of local businesses built from map and review listings, and the businesses named in the text were the top of that card, in order. The card listed 104 contractors in total; their median was 101 reviews.
License numbers get quoted
Contractor answers quoted state license numbers from the CSLB and from directories as a reason to pick a business, and roofing answers told homeowners to get two or three written estimates. A license that is easy to verify is part of being named.
Reviews matter, but not only reviews
The first contractor on the card ranged from 13 reviews (an electrician in Ontario) to 1,016 (a plumber in Corona). Thirteen of the 104 had no website, and two of those were still recommended. Being in the right city with a complete profile carries a business a long way.
Nine trade questions, one run each, 20 cited sources. Answers change from run to run, so we measure them monthly and report how often you are named, not a single screenshot. The full method is in how ChatGPT picks local businesses.
The 10 questions we track for contractors
The audit swaps in your trade, your jobs and the cities you serve. Each question is asked in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode, and the monthly report shows who was named for each one.
- Can you recommend a plumber in [city]?
- Who should I call for emergency AC repair in [city]?
- Who is the best roofer in [city] for a roof replacement?
- I need an electrician in [city] today. Who do you recommend?
- Which solar installers in [city] have the best reviews?
- Who installs tankless water heaters near [city]?
- Can you recommend a licensed general contractor for a remodel in [city]?
- Which HVAC companies near [city] offer financing?
- How much does a new AC system cost in [city]?
- Should I repair or replace a 15-year-old water heater?
Questions 1 to 8 are "who should I call" questions, and only those count toward the 90-day guarantee. Questions 9 and 10 are research questions: they show whether your pages are the source the answer cites.
Three layers of contractor SEO, in the order that books jobs
Service pages first, because they decide what you can rank for. The map pack second, because that is where most home service searches end. Trust throughout, because homeowners and assistants both look for a licensed business they can verify.
One page per job you want more of
A water heater replacement and a drain cleaning are different searches from different homeowners. Each job gets a page that says what it involves, how fast you can come, what affects the price, and how to book. Most of a contractor site's non-branded traffic comes from these pages.
Winning the map pack in every city you serve
Most home service searches end in the map pack. Business profile accuracy, categories, service areas, photos, hours and a steady flow of reviews decide whether you appear there. We run the profile and the review program alongside the site, and add a page for each city that has real demand.
Proving a licensed, real crew is behind the page
Your license number on every page, real photos of your crew and your jobs, warranty and insurance details stated plainly, and directory profiles that match your business profile. Homeowners and assistants both look for a business they can verify.
Built for contractors who want booked jobs, not a prettier ranking chart
Owner-operators, multi-crew companies and home service brands across Southern California and beyond.
Not the right fit: lead resellers, businesses that want guaranteed rankings, or companies unwilling to ask customers for reviews. We will tell you on the call if you are in the wrong place.

How the 90-day guarantee is tested
Nobody can promise you the top spot in ChatGPT. We guarantee a threshold you can check yourself, with the test agreed before we start.
- We agree 10 buyer questions with you in week one. Questions that already name you are swapped out, and none of them contain your business name.
- Each question is asked in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode, three times each.
- A question counts when an assistant names you in at least two of the three runs.
- By day 90, at least 3 of the 10 questions count, or we keep working for up to 2 more months with billing paused.
- The clock pauses while we wait on you for access, approvals or review requests. There is no cash refund; you get the work.
Same plans and prices as our AI SEO services page. For a contractor, the full plan includes service pages, city pages, local SEO and technical work.
Written for contractor advertising rules
California requires a licensed contractor's license number on advertising, including websites, and bars misleading claims about licensing, insurance and price. We are not lawyers and cannot certify compliance, so you review every page before it publishes. These are the things we will not write for you.
- Ads or pages without your license number where the law requires it
- "Best plumber" or "#1 roofer" stated as fact
- Prices, financing or discounts you cannot honor on the job
- Licensed or insured claims we have not seen documented
- Reviews or testimonials that were paid for, filtered or invented
- Stock photos presented as your crew or your work

What is contractor SEO?
Contractor SEO is the work of getting your business found when a homeowner searches Google, checks the map pack, or asks an AI assistant who to call. For most contractors it comes down to three things: a page for each job and each city you serve, a Google Business Profile and review count that win the map pack, and complete, consistent profiles on the directories that search engines and assistants trust.
How much does SEO for contractors cost?
Our plans start at $550 a month. The $750 AI visibility audit is the setup fee for every plan, the AI Visibility Starter is $550 a month with a 3-month minimum, and the 90-Day AI Recommendation Program is $1,000 a month for 3 months with a written guarantee, then $500 a month. Full contractor SEO, with service pages, city pages, local and technical work, runs $1,500 to $5,000 a month, quoted fixed-scope after the audit. A one-truck business in a few cities sits toward the bottom; a multi-crew company covering a metro sits higher. Every price is on this page.
Which SEO company is best for contractors?
The one that can show you its work. Ask any company, including us, which homeowner questions your business appears for today in Google and in ChatGPT, which contractors are named instead, what they will change in your site and listings, who owns the website if you leave, and whether they report on calls and booked jobs or only rankings. Ask for the price in writing. A company that cannot answer those plainly is not the best one for your business.
How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my contracting business?
Make your business easy to name with confidence. In our September 2026 test of nine trade questions in Orange County and the Inland Empire, every source ChatGPT cited was a directory, and the businesses it named came from its business card in order. So: a complete Google Business Profile in the right category and service area, a steady flow of reviews, your license number where an assistant can find it, consistent profiles on the directories it cites, and a website that says what you do and where. Nobody can promise a position. On the 90-Day Program we guarantee a measured threshold instead: named on at least 3 of 10 agreed homeowner questions by day 90, or we keep working for up to 2 more months with billing paused.
Which directories matter for contractors in AI answers?
Google Business Profile first, because it feeds the business card most answers open with. In our test the directories ChatGPT cited most were Expertise.com and Angi, followed by BestProsInTown, HomeAdvisor and EnergySage for solar, with one citation each for license lookups, Birdeye and the BBB. Consistency across the profiles you keep matters more than the number of them. We check which ones your competitors are cited from before recommending any, and we do not recommend paying per lead.
What is local SEO for contractors?
Local SEO is the part of contractor SEO that decides whether you appear in the map pack and in 'near me' searches. It covers your Google Business Profile, your categories and service areas, photos and hours, your review count and how recently customers left reviews, and whether your name, address and phone match on every directory. For most contractors it is the fastest way to more calls.
How long does SEO take for a contractor?
Business profile corrections and technical fixes can show movement within weeks, and the map pack often moves within one to three months once reviews and listings are in order. Service and city pages in a competitive Southern California market generally take three to six months to become a steady source of jobs. AI answers re-read listings and pages on a lag of weeks, which is why our programs run at least three months.
Do I need my license number on my website?
In California, yes. The Business and Professions Code requires a licensed contractor's license number on advertising, and the CSLB treats a website as advertising. It also helps you get recommended: assistants quoted license numbers as a reason to pick a business in our tests. We put it in the footer, on the contact page and in the structured data.
Do we need a new website for contractor SEO to work?
Usually not. Most contractor SEO work happens on sites we did not build. A rebuild becomes necessary when the platform blocks the work: a template you cannot change, a site too slow to fix, or pages a marketing company owns. If that is your situation, we build contractor websites too, and the SEO continues on the new site.
Who are the best contractor SEO agencies in Southern California?
Judge them on what they can prove. Ask each one to show you, for your trade and city, which contractors ChatGPT and Google name today and why, what they would change first, the price in writing, and one business they have helped get found. We are a Southern California team in Chino Hills that publishes every price, ships the fixes in code, and reports which homeowner questions name you each month. Run the same questions past anyone else you are considering.
Do you work with contractors outside California?
Yes. We are in Chino Hills, between Orange County and the Inland Empire, and our team is 100% U.S.-based. We meet Southern California contractors in person when a project calls for it and work with contractors in other states remotely. The service pages, map pack work and technical fixes are the same everywhere; the license rules change by state, and we follow yours.
